Research summary
In diabetes, it has been shown that self-management is the main factor determining success in achieving and maintaining control over blood glucose levels. However, the focus of the current research in this area is limited to the clinical outcomes and largely ignores eliciting the value the individuals with diabetes place on the self-management aspect of their condition. Using structured individual and panel interviews, and a survey in a discrete choice experiment (DCE) format, this project will investigate the individual preferences in order to identify and quantify the attributes that are important to the patients and the general public in the self-management of diabetes.
