Research summary
St George’s University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has recently developed a series of interventions to improve end of life care (EoLC) at the Trust, following a Care Quality Commission (CQC) report in 2016.
The overall aim of this study is to research the experience of those important to the patient about the EoLC their loved one received.
The project aims to address the following research question:
"What are the perceptions and experiences of those important to the patients of end of life care provided by the Trust to patients and to those important to the patients before COVID-19?"
Data will be collected by telephone interviews with people whose loved one received end of life care before COVID-19 at the Trust.
The findings will help improve the provision of end of life care and may identify needs for additional training of staff directly involved in providing end of life care to patients and those important to the patients. In addition, the findings will be disseminated at research conferences and through publications, aiming to contribute to the wider community.REC name
