Research summary
Assessing whether work participation of employees in SME's (small medium-sized enterprise) could be improved, by providing them with understanding of how well they recover from work stress to continue meeting job demands, and whether adjustments to the workplace or their lifestyle are required to continue with sustainable employment.
We use serial informative questionnaires on sleep, sleep hygiene , stress and recovery from work stress, in combination with the leucocyte coping capacity (LCC) fingerprick test, which has the ability to indicate physiological decompensation from (work) stress.
The study will be conducted in the UK, will involve 30 employees from an SME who will participate in study questionnaires and a minimally invasive fingerprick test (the LCC test), administered once a week. The study will last for six weeks. Employees who suffers from immunosuppressive conditions, or who is on immunosuppressive medication, or who suffers from acute psychiatric conditions, or has needle phobia, will be excluded from the study.
