Research summary
Timely analysis of biochemical samples is important in ensuring the validity of test results. Within the Clinical Chemistry laboratory, delays are not uncommon in the process of analysis due to a number of pre-analytical issues i.e. transportation delays, sample misplacement. In addition, some tests are referred to other laboratories and are subjected to temperature variations before analysis. Therefore, the study aims to determine whether the analysis of serum iron and analytes within the renal profile are affected by temperature and time delays. As iron studies, is referred to Bradford Royal Infirmary, it is vital that the sample remains stable until analysis.
