Research summary
This study is aimed at assessing oral health status in an obese population sample as well as to evaluate the effects of an Intensive Weight Management Programme (that includes a low energy liquid diet, follow by introduction of solid food and a subsequent individualised diet plan) on oral health status. 64 study participants will be recruited from those individuals attending the University College London Hospitals (UCLH) for weight control management. Following the weight management screening/baseline examinations, qualifying participants will receive an oral health assessment prior to commencement of the Intensive Weight Management Programme. Followup
assessment will take place at 2 and 6 months during the standard followup visit of the weight management programme schedule of visits. At the end of the Intensive Weight Management Programme, all participants will be assessed provided with a report of their oral health status.REC name
