Research summary
In a subset of patients with asthma, usually those with more severe disease, their airways are colonised with a mould called Aspergillus fumigatus (AF). This can cause a severe allergic reaction leading to marked eosinophilic airway inflammation and a tendency for severe exacerbations. The aim of this study is to determine if a potent anti-fungal agent, voriconazole, can eradicate the colonisation and if this leads to an improvement in asthma control
