Research summary
We intend to use biological material from anonymous donors obtained via the NHS blood transfusion service for experimental characterization of strains of gut commensal bacteria isolated from healthy human donors. The experimental characterization will be done as soon as the biological material is available, but aliquots of the biological material may be stored in liquid nitrogen for 3 to 6 months for repeated testing. This work will help to define the role of live bio-therapeutic products (LBPs) in the development and regulation of the immune system and help to identify new mechanism of action of our products that may be used to identify strains of therapeutic relevance.
