Research summary
The study will investigate whether a loss of hearing at 4kHz, as seen in noise-induced hearing loss, affects speech discrimination. We will investigate this by performing speech in noise tests to assess speech discrimination with the volunteer's normal hearing and then with simulated hearing loss. This will be performed by manipulating the test material in MATLAB, a computer programme, to remove specific frequencies from the test material.
