  • Research summary

This project is being run as part of the Clinical Psychology doctoral training programme with the University of Surrey and Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS trust. People identifying as a sexual minority (e.g. LGB+) are likely to experience healthcare inequalities when receiving therapies in NHS settings. This study is looking into what ex-service users would have liked from their therapists to aid conversations about sexuality in therapy. This study will also gather data from existing questionnaires to help form one unified questionnaire that can be used by clinicians in practice. Anyone who has completed therapy with an NHS IAPT service, identifies with a sexual minority group and has consented to be contacted for research purposes will be eligible. These individuals will be contacted to complete online or written multiple choice questionnaires, based on preference. A sub-group of these participants will be able to continue onto a part of the study where they can provide written accounts of their thoughts and experiences.
