Research summary
Patients with IBD may have a wide range of nutritional deficiencies and frequently report specific foods that seem to cause aggravation of their symptoms. Despite this, data on dietary perceptions, behaviour and associated disability in patients with IBD are scarce.
We will conduct an anonymised questionnaire based study over a period of 6 months at the Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust using a self-designed 25-item questionnaire. Participants will be patients with inflammatory bowel diseases attending our out-patient gastroenterology clinics and who are under follow-up at our institution. While the patients are waiting to be seen by the consultant gastroenterologist or specialist nurse, they will be approached by the research fellow and invited to participate in the study.
