Research summary
The study aims to look at the functional impact fatigue of radical radiotherapy, with the dose and fractionation of 40Gy/15#s/3 weeks, has on breast cancer patients. Gy, an abbreviation for Gray, is a unit used to for the measurement of ionising radiation. #s, abbreviation for fractions, are the total number of treatments the patient undergoes. So, within the UK the standard course of radical radiotherapy for breast cancer patients is 40Gy in 15#s over 3 weeks.
Patients will be asked to complete a diary account throughout the course of their radiotherapy treatment. There are two parts to this diary, one is the completion of a FACIT-F scale and the second is daily fatigue score.
The FACIT-F scale shall provide information on the patient's individual levels of severity of fatigue. The daily fatigue score shall provide information on the functional ability of the levels of fatigue.
Having the patient complete these two components allows for easier analysis to see if there is a relationship between the severity of fatigue experienced by the patient and the impact of functional ability on their daily lives.REC name
