Research summary
The plaque control of patient is the most important factor when trying to manage and treat periodontal disease. The dental team currently uses two scoring methods to score the plaque and bleeding score of a patient to determine the level of their cleaning. This diagnostic study aims to determine the accuracy and validity of two new abbreviated scoring methods for measuring oral plaque and bleeding scores based on a partial mouth recording system rather than full mouth. This will be quicker and more efficient to undertake. The two new indices have been named the Modified Plaque Score and the Modified Bleeding Score.
