Research summary
To The aim of the study is to understand the proportion of people with diabetes who experience longer term symptoms or illness after covid-19 infection, the nature of these symptoms, and the potential health impact. We will recruit a large sample of people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes in Scotland to assess the prevalence of symptoms after self reported COVID infection (Case-Cohort study, self filled, majority online). We will further recruit a nested Case Control study from that cohort inviting people with positive COVID test in the clinical record (cases) and matched controls to a consented examination at clinical research facilities to examine physical measures, glycaemia and diabetes complications.
