  • Research summary

NHS Northern, Eastern and Western Devon Clinical Commissioning Group (NEW Devon CCG)is currently running a pilot implementation of webGP in six general practices (five practices + one student medical centre attached to one of the five practices). webGP is a practice website-based platform providing a suite of online services to patients. The CCG has commissioned the Primary Care Research Group within the University of Exeter Medical School to evaluate webGP regarding its utility for the range of patient demographic groups within the region, including those within student populations. The CCG wish also to assess its effect on demand, and patient safety. This will be the first formal evaluation of the webGP suite of services and will include an exploration of the impact of webGP on practice workload (using data extracted from the practice database and data from individual Case Report forms); an investigation of patient experience of webGP (using a postal/email survey) and a study of practice staff experiences and perceptions with regard to webGP (using one-to-one interviews).\n\n
