Research summary
The performance of clinicians to detect early cases of glaucoma is the important part of glaucoma management. In the United Kingdom, community optometrists (Azuara-Blanco et al 2007) detect most cases of glaucoma. Optometrists use the visual field (VF) and intraocular pressure for detecting glaucoma. Several packages have been developed to measure and improve clinician performance in detecting glaucomatous changes in optic nerve head images. There is no similar package for the visual field.
The aim of this study is to develop a training and assessment package to improve clinicians performance in detecting glaucomatous changes to the visual field. To develop this package, this study will use data collected during management of glaucoma patients attending the outpatient department of Manchester Royal Eye Hospital.
