Research summary
This study follows the publication of early-stage research from MIT/Harvard, which from a small participant cohort reported the ability of an algorithm to classify asymptomatic COVID-19 positive patients using audio recordings of forced coughs. In a feasibility study, The Joint Biosecurity Centre will partner with testing sites to collect voice recordings including forced coughs and linking to COVID-19 test results.\n\nThe purpose of this study is to create a research database of voice recordings. This database will be used for the development of COVID-19 screening algorithms, to evaluate existing algorithms from academic and commercial parties, and to determine with an independently collected dataset whether existing algorithms should be considered for a clinical trial. The deployment of any algorithms is not in scope of this study. Participants will receive no feedback based on the data they provide, and no clinical decisions will be made.
