Research summary
Chronic pain services in Southampton have discovered during encounters with patients that many of them seem to have a poor patient journey, from the onset of their pain to receiving the right help . If this can be identified formally and the reasons behind this can be brought to light, changes to the way patients with chronic pain are managed could be implemented in an attempt to improve their journey.
In trying to understand how to elicit these questions in a focussed manner it became evident that the right questions were unclear. Therefore a project was suggested that developed the questionnaire to be put to use in later years.
Through discussion with clinical staff in chronic pain services and members of a local support group for people with chronic pain in combination with literature reviews, design a questionnaire which can then be piloted on a small number of outpatients with chronic pain services in Southampton in order to assess whether it is a useful tool or not to assess patient journey.REC name
