Research summary
There is increasing demand for access to mental health support in children and young people (Children’s Commissioner, 2020). Digital solutions offer opportunities to provide access to empirically supported mental health interventions in a timely and efficient manner, allowing the potential for services to scale up support to meet this demand. SilverCloud by Amwell’s ‘Space from Anxiety for Teens’ is a guided digital cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) intervention, designed to treat mild-to-moderate anxiety in young people. It was recently recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE, 2023) as a technology that can be used as an initial treatment option, while evidence is being generated. The current study seeks to build on the evidence base for this intervention by conducting interviews with young people who have received Space from Anxiety for Teens, to solicit their feedback regarding their experiences of the programme, any benefits and negative effects they perceived through the programme, and any areas for improvement in the programme.
[Please note, SilverCloud is now owned by Amwell, so while research is conducted on a SilverCloud (the intervention), named researchers are employees of Amwell (the organisation).]
