Research summary
This is a clinical trial of psychological intervention, which aims to reduce job related burnout and to improve emotional well-being in Doctors working in the National Health Service. The study will recruit medical doctors across all of the different medical specialties, from general practice (GPs) in community clinics to specialist hospital-based outpatient and inpatient services, including trainees on rotation in NHS services. Consenting participants will be randomly assigned to two groups; 1 and 2. Participants in both groups will be asked to complete online questionnaires to indicate their levels of burnout and well-being before starting the intervention, this will give us a baseline for their burnout level. After the baseline assessment, only participants in group 1 will access an 8-week intervention (controlled phase). After group 1 have finished all 8 weeks of the intervention, group 2 will then access the intervention for an 8-week period (full implementation phase). Finally, we will collect questionnaire scores again 6 months after both groups have completed the intervention (follow-up phase).
