Research summary
Within the context of Patient Public Involvement, the study aims to explore the experiences of individuals with a learning disability and their carers, accessing mental health support during the COVID-19 pandemic. This will involve interviewing adults with a learning disability and their carers (separately) who have accessed mental health support during the pandemic. Analysis will occur within a multi-perspective Interpretive Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) framework. The aim is for the findings to be used to inform the support that is offered in learning disability mental health services. The study project group is inclusive of individuals with a learning disability and their carers. This group will be involved at all stages of the project, from design, to implementation, analysis, write-up and dissemination phases.
