Research summary
COVID-19 patients are presenting to Emergency Departments in GGC. There is very little clinical data available in the literature to guide clinicians in the treatment of these patients. We wish to gather data that may enable standardisation of investigations and inform better practice. For example, at present, different clinicians order different tests. We wish to ascertain if some tests provide more valuable information that may indicate likelihood of deterioration or death. We will review the COVID-19 swab positive cases together with those that are clinically suspected/treated as COVID-19 positive and also those who are radiologically diagnosed as COVID-19 positive. Available clinical data will be analysed and an evidence based admission blood test order set implemented. Data will then be re-analysed and changes made as indicated. Other clinical data relating to past medical history and medications, treatment received and clinical outcome is also relevant.
