Research summary
Person-centred, community-based support services (PCCBSS) are a range of non-clinical services provided by statutory (e.g. set up by law or by the government) and third sector (i.e. not for profit and non-governmental) organisations.
These types of services signpost people who express a need for social, emotional, physical and practical support (through referral) towards relevant local sources of support in their communities (all involve a 'signposter' role, although some services identify with being named as social prescribers, link workers, neighbourhood coaches, etc.).
This study's aim is to explore the process of embedding a new PCCBSS in to usual working practices, and will use up to 5 existing UK services as case studies.
We will examine the implementation of PCCBSS (and service modifications to accommodate the pandemic) and establish where there is learning for the wider adult social care system. Data will be collected through reviewing service documents, interviewing staff and service users, and presenting findings to social care stakeholders. The outputs will include an implementation guide for setting up new PCCBSS.REC name
