Research summary
The aim of the study is to compare 3 different orthodontic appliances that are used routinely for treating orthodontic patients: Twin Block, Frog distalising and Herbst. We will be comparing patient compliance, appliance discomfort (if any), and the efficacy and effectiveness of the appliances in achieving the end result. All appliances are CE marked. Success will be measured by clinical outcome as well as radiographic examination. No additional ionising radiation will be used compared to patients not undergoing investigation as radiographs are routinely taken prior to starting treatment and mid-way to assess treatment progress in any case. Our patients will involve children approaching attainment of permanent dentition.
