Research summary
Study Design: Retrospective Cohort Study
Data Collection: A retrospective database review of infants who were admitted to two tertiary care hospitals in India and the U.K over a period of 5 years (2011-2015) will be conducted. The Indian center is the Manipal Hospitals in Bengaluru and the UK center is Homerton University Hospital, London. In this study all babies born at gestational age ≤ 30 weeks will be included. Data will be collected on Antenatal factors including Maternal risk factors, Steroids, Chorioamnionitis, the risk factors for preterm, mode of delivery, condition at birth, demographics of the baby, morbidities such as Intraventricular Hemorrhage, Patent Ductus arteriosus, Necrotising Enterocolitis( NEC), Retinopathy of Prematurity(ROP), Chronic Lung Disease(CLD), Blood culture Proven infections and suspected infection, duration of NICU stay, duration of ventilation and final outcome (discharge to home or death).
Exclusion Criteria: Babies with major congenital (e.g:heart defects like Transposition of great vessels ( TGA) or genetic abnormalities (e.g: Trisomies)REC name
