  • Research summary

There is no universal agreement on the content or format of an advice leaflet for patients with blunt chest wall trauma who are being discharged home directly from the Emergency Department (ED) or Minor Injuries Unit (MIU). It is well known that a number of patients who are discharged directly home from the ED or MIU without hospital admission, later re-attend the ED with complications. The aim of this study is to ask clinicians about their experiences and perceptions of the management and recovery of patients with blunt chest wall trauma, who attend the ED / MIU, but do not require admission to the hospital. The results of this study will be used to form the background for the next phase of the work, which is to develop the advice leaflet for this group of patients.
