Research summary
More people are surviving cancer than ever before. Digital systems will increasingly be used to optimise the delivery of cancer aftercare. This project focuses on prostate and colorectal cancer aftercare. We plan to run three co-design workshops. At these events, people interested in devising digital prostate and colorectal aftercare systems will come together to discuss current aftercare, reflect on what is going well/less well, and generate ideas about how digital technologies could and should (or should not) be used to address problems. At subsequent workshops, participants will re-visit original ideas/problems, be given the opportunity to hear about ongoing research in this area, and invited to give feedback on prototype digital systems. Co-design events will also allow participants to reflect on the feasibility of operationalising digital systems in practice.\nWe will invite people who have completed potentially curative treatment for prostate and colorectal cancer, their caregivers, oncologists, specialist nurses, general practitioners, researchers, design professionals, cancer surgeons, third sector representatives, computer scientists, and software specialists to attend our co-design workshops. Patients will be equal partners in the research process and their views and opinions will be integral to the design of digital cancer aftercare systems. \n
