Research summary
New, improved versions of dental materials for restoration of teeth are introduced at regular intervals by manufacturers. This study evaluates the performance, over 3 years, of new versions of previous materials, namely the dental adhesive ADH19 and the resin composite (tooth coloured) filling material Filtek Universal, both of which are CE marked. A total of 120 restorations (maximum 2 per patient) will be placed by 6 general dentists in their UK-based practices and the restorations will be assessed using scientific criteria at 1, 2 and 3 years by a trained independent evaluator (the PI). Patients will provide informed written consent. The clinicians will use the materials where indicated and using the recommended clinical procedures.
