Research summary
A case series study will be undertaken of patients with chronic neuropathic lower limb pain who are currently being managed by use of a spinal cord stimulator. The pathological process responsible for the lower limb pain may be different between cases. The case series study aims to establish if examining different cases can provide helpful information in relation to management.
Participants for the study will be identified from those patients attending the pain clinic (Russells Hall Hospital). This will be undertaken by the clinical care team, under the guidance of Prof Jon Raphael.
The case series study will examine the multifaceted approach to the management of chronic neuropathic lower limb pain with particular reference to the value of the spinal cord stimulator for different lower limb pathologies. This will be undertaken by carefully retrospectively examining and extracting anonymised data from the patients medical records.
Participants will be approached to obtain consent to use data from their medical records. It will be collected and collated in anonymised form.
