Research summary
This is a longitudinal, observational study of women during pregnancy with chronic kidney disease. Additional data will be collected by recruitment of women undergoing routine follow up in renal clinics and those receiving antenatal care who do not have kidney disease.
We seek to identify if there are any distinguishing parameters, present in early pregnancy, in women with chronic kidney disease which are associated with a higher incidence of subsequent pre-eclampsia. We will study “standard” risk factors recognized in the general obstetric literature, but will also specifically test the hypothesis that an altered serum sflt1/PlGF ratio in early pregnancy is associated with subsequently diagnosed pre-eclampsia in the pregnant
CKD population. We will also observe any patterns in the RAAS components in the two groups.REC name
