Aim
To explore the benefits and challenges to facilitating successful learning for pre-registration children's nurses in primary care settings.
The objectives are:
1. To explore definitions of primary care learning environments used by placement providers
2. To examine participants’ attitudes on the benefits and challenges of mentoring children’s nursing students in primary care settings
3. To explore inter-professional learning opportunities for pre registration children’s nurses in primary care placements and effect on learning
4. To consider supervision models used in primary care and views on the impact on successful learning for pre-registration children’s nursing students.
An exploratory qualitative approach will be taken to discover the views of participating mentors, students, educators and those involved with workforce planning. A qualitative study has been chosen to enable the understanding of participants’ views, using focus groups as the main method of collection to gain a perspective on the exchange of ideas in a group setting.REC name
