Data collection arrangements
Data from patients attending a colorectal surgical clinic at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital will be collated and stored in a secure, password protected computer system kept within a secure locked area in the Hospital grounds. This will include information on patient age, gender and past medical history, as well as clinical symptoms and pathology as gained from clinical consultations in hospital. This data will be collected from patient questionnaires and clinical notes taken at the time of consult, and input directly into the secure computer database. These notes will then be returned to the patients' hospital notes and stored.
Research programme
Pelvic floor disease is a subspecialty area within the Colorectal Surgical community. The database supports patients and clinicians interested in advancing the treatment of such disorders as constipation, incontinence, unexplained abdominal pain and pelvic organ prolapse. This database will provide information which will suppport the development of evidenced-based treatment strategies for these disorders.
