Research summary
This is a non-interventional, international study to investigate the rate of suspected Atrial fibrillation (AF) in patients aged 65 years and older using a validated screening device.
Patients with AF are at a higher risk of stroke and stroke-related death because it is a heart condition that often causes an irregular and abnormally fast heart rate. The study will assess the value of guidelines that recommend opportunistic screening and may help generate guidance to further understand the feasibility of routine AF measurement in primary care.
