  • Data collection arrangements

Routine data collected as part of the COVID-19 testing programme are stored in a Public health database. These data include demographic details (age and sex), duration and severity of symptoms, range of symptoms, employment sector (e.g. health/social care/police/other key workers), and one known risk factor for severe disease (smoking).

  • Research programme

Analysis will be undertaken which will examine reported symptoms with final COVID-19 test result, which will allow development of a clinical decision tool, and support effective self-isolation policies to protect the workforce and vulnerable patients & clients. This research will build on the largely anecdotal evidence that COVID-19 sufferers have a range of presentations, and can exhibit asymptomatic carriage and transmission of COVI-19 infection, and thus will play a key role in ongoing Public Health management of the pandemic.
