Research summary
Cardiovascular disease is more common in subjects with some chronic inflammatory conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease and psoriasis. The aim of this study is to determine if cardiovascular health, as measured using specialised imaging of the arteries, varies across different chronic inflammatory conditions and whether it can be predicted by clinical or biological markers of inflammation. In addition we will investigate whether anti-tumour necrosis (anti-TNF) therapy can improve both markers and symptoms of cardiovascular and chronic inflammatory disease.
