Data collection arrangements
This database will include data on the pressures within the coronary artery during an injection of contrast, which is routinely used in cardiology to visualise the arteries during an angiogram. Data will be stored securely on NHS computers and only study codes will be stored with the data rather than identifiable patient information.
Research programme
The database will allow research into whether contrast injections are safe to given during an angiogram in a patient who has a coronary artery dissection, which is a rare but potentially fatal condition. The research will be useful for cardiologists to manage patients with these conditions more safely.
