Data collection arrangements
Fresh cord, bone marrow, lymph node biopsies and peripheral blood samples will be used immediately or stored in monitored liquid nitrogen tank facilities at the above address. Consent forms will be stored in a locked room. This facility is part of the CUH HTA licence 12315 and governed by the Haematology department sample access committee (for applications to use the biobank) and the local HTA committee (to ensure compliance to HTA regulations).
Research programme
The bank supports research into normal blood and stem cell biology and development, and disease processes arising in the blood and immune systems. Researchers from the local area, the wider UK, EU and worldwide research communities will be able to access samples. We aim to improve our understanding of normal and disease processes for implementation in healthcare and treatment of these conditions in the future.
