Research summary
A recent systematic review of bronchiectasis clinical trials has shown the lack of correlation between important endpoints (such as exacerbation frequency, lung function, changes in sputum, microbiology etc) and changes in patient reported health status (validated questionnaires). A qualitative study with patients reviewing the current questionnaires led on to the the design of a new tool designed to capture patients symptoms and quality of life - the Bronchiectasis Impact Measure. In this study we will examine the performance of the questionnaire in patients with bronchiectasis. We will administer this questionnaire to bronchiectasis patients and gather data at week 0, week 2 and week 24 for measures of repeatability, validation and developmental feedback.
