Research summary
Study Design: This is a self-administered questionnaire-based research project.
Study Participants: Patients coming for preoperative assessment before planned surgery who have had prior facial Botox injections
Planned Size of Sample: This is a pilot study and the incidence of Botox usage is unknown in the surgical population - thus although approximately 3000 patients could be subjects, a rough estimate might be that only 60 of this number would be recruited.
Research Question/Aim(s): We hope to find the incidence of prior facial Botox usage in a surgical population, to find how many of these subjects had received Botox within any given time frame prior to the date op surgery, to find out how frequently Botox is repeated in users and to find out what guidance Botox users were given at the time of injection about effects on future anaesthesia.REC name
