Research summary
The study intends to establish prognostic biomarkers using retrospective radiology data of patients with confirmed diagnosis of pleural mesothelioma. The study is first of its kind to establish radiological features (biomarkers) for patients with mesothelioma. Mesothelioma patients may have either Computed tomography (CT), Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) or Positron Emission Tomography with computed tomography (PET CT). Currently radiological imaging is performed as part of all standard care treatments for this cohort of patients but standardised imaging biomarkers to aid clinicians to better plan treatment is yet to be established. Therefore, it is vital to determine this aspect in order to help support a better understanding of the type of treatments the NHS is able to provide mesothelioma patients. Patients who have had either CT or MRI or PET/CT scans will have their scans available on the Trust PACS systems in their respective hospitals. These scans will be anoynomised to ensure patient confidentiality. Participating site principle investigators will be responsible for reviewing scanned data and reporting these as per the trial modality specific proformas. Completed proformas will be returned to the lead site using the prepaid enveloped provided.
