Data collection arrangements
Waste extracted teeth are collected and stored at Birmingham Dental Hospital and School. Those patients wishing to donate their tooth following its extraction under local anesthetic give their consent verbally and this is recorded in the notes. If an adjunctive techniques is used to impair the patients consciousness then written consent is obtained. All teeth are pooled and stored anonymously therefore it is impossible to link the sample to the patient donating the tooth.
