Research summary
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, studies are showing an association between biochemical and haematological biomarkers and severity of disease and fatality in COVID-19 patients. For example: data from studies in China and Italy have shown association with increased in-hospital death and higher D-dimer, lactate dehydrogenase and ferritin results. \n\nThe aim of this study is to analyse laboratory abnormalities in biochemical and haematological tests in confirmed COVID-19 patients to investigate if differences in results are associated with disease severity and/or mortality. We will also investigate laboratory abnormalities in patients with acute severe or acute delayed presentations of COVID-19
