The data stored and used for each research project is that collected within the NHS or in conjunction with the NHS related to patients who have heart disease and are or have been being managed within a hospital. Patients who have heart failure, a heart attack, have birth related heart problems, are undergoing heart surgery or require devices are in the NICOR datasets or have other comorbidities. This data is linked to mortality data, NHS hospital data (HES) and other datasets that enable an understanding of the life course of heart disease and that the NHS is delivering appropriate care. All data used in research is anonymised.
