Research summary
Mucinous pancreatic cysts are precancerous lesions which can further develop into pancreatic cancer. The risk and rate of their malignant transformation is not yet well defined. It is known that bacteria can contribute to the carcinogenesis. This prospective study should help to identify a novel bacterial biomarker which may help us to understand the risk and rate of malignant progression of mucinous pancreatic cysts into pancreatic adenocarcinoma.
