Research summary
This qualitative study will explore psychological wellbeing among individuals with gender dysphoria. Individuals with gender dysphoria feel that their gender identity is different from the sex they were both with; many describe it as being born in the wrong body. The main aim of this study is to explore factors which influence psychological wellbeing among a sample of patients attending a regional gender identity clinic for gender dysphoria. Participants will be invited to undertake a photograph assignment which involves taking photographs that capture factors(objects, places, people, groups, organisations, or activities) that they feel positively or negatively affect their sense of psychological wellbeing. These photographs will become an interview tool to explore and facilitate discussion of factors that strengthen or impair psychological wellbeing.
