Research summary
This study examines whether women using long acting reversible contraceptives (LARC) have a higher rate of chlamydia diagnosis than women using other forms of contraception.\n\nThis study will measure the rate of chlamydia diagnosis in women who attend one of the three study centres. Information from Genitourinary Medicine (GUM) attendances will be used to calculate rates of chlamydia diagnoses. Contraceptive data will be obtained from the Sexual and Reproductive Health Activity Dataset (SRHAD); this will be used to classify women as using LARC or other forms of contraception.\n\nInformation on GUM attendances will be matched to contraceptive data to identify women eligible for the study. For eligible women, sexual history information taken during their GUM attendance will be recorded from their GUM record. This sexual history information will be matched with the GUM and contraceptive data for analysis.
