  Previous studies within our department and other institutions have shown that vitamin D status profoundly affects immunological and inflammatory responses. However, accurate measurement of vitamin D status is difficult and best done by specialist biochemists (using techniques not available within our department). This study will compare vitamin D status (in archived donor serum samples) to the immunological / inflammatory responses of those donors previously measured in exposure and in vitro studies. This is an important question as vitamin D status is a modifiable health factor.
