Data collection arrangements
Hospital systems will be interrogated to identify people under the care of Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust with arthritis. Potential participants will be sent a letter from the clinician responsible for their care, outlining the research programme conducted within the University of Nottingham and the Department of Orthopaedics, inviting them to provide details that would be stored on the research database, and to consent to further contact about specific research studies. These details will comprise contact details, expression of interest in particular research projects and minimal details on their joint history. These details will be entered on an Access database and used solely for the purpose of recruitment. In addition, a log of patients mailed will be kept by the NUH research administrator for audit purposes and to avoid duplication. This will comprise name, address, contact details, date of birth, hospital number and will serve to enable status checks before patients are recontacted regarding studies.
Participants will be given contact details of the Research Coordinator in case they should wish to have their details withdrawn from the database.Research programme
Studies of arthritis, carried out by Nottingham University Hospitals and the University of Nottingham;Academic Rheumatology,the Division of Orthopaedics, and the Arthritis Research UK Pain Centre under the management of Prof David Walsh, (Rheumatology) Prof Michael Doherty(Rheumatology), Prof Brigitte Scammell (Orthopaedics), Prof Nadina Lincoln(Psychology), and Prof Dorothee Auer(Imaging).
