Research summary
The study is a retrospective analysis of data currently held in clinical notes and on departmental databases related to adult patients who have had an atrial switch operation (surgery to re-direct the direction of blood within the heart) as a child having been born with transposition of the great arteries (the major atery and vein coming from/to the heart are switched round). We are specifically looking at the incidence of abnormal heart rhythms and reduced pumping capacity of the heart related to the operation over the course of time.
