Research summary
Hearing loss is a condition which can significantly reduce a patient’s quality of life. The most used intervention currently to improve hearing loss are hearing aids. However, previous studies have shown that hearing aids have not been adequately programmed to prescription formulas, potentially causing patients not to reach their self-set hearing goals. With improving hearing aid technology there are now ways we can more closely fit to prescription targets. Therefore the aim of this research is to find out whether getting closer to prescription targets will allow patients to reach more of their hearing goals than previous ways of programming hearing aids.
