Aim: to design a theory based learning aid for use in the clinical environment aimed at improving application of knowledge in undergraduate dental students pre-operative assessment of oral surgery procedures.
1.To design a learning aid based on educational theory and appropriate for use by students in the clinical environment.
2.To produce a series of clinical case studies which will allow undergraduate dental students to implement the learning aid with and assess application of knowledge in pre-operative assessment before and after use of the tool using semi structured interviews.
3.To explore how the students use the learning aid through observation
4.To explore the effect of the learning aid on students’ application of knowledge in pre-operative assessments through semi-structured interviews before and after use
